There are unfortunately certain circumstances when teeth need to be extracted, like when infected, fractured, or there is a loss of support of the bone around the tooth. The dentist will explain all of the potential risks and benefits to extracting teeth. With simple extractions, the tooth will be loosened with instruments before attempting to remove them. In more complex cases, when teeth are broken at the gum line or are covered over by the gums, a more extensive approach must be taken to provide better healing. Wisdom teeth extractions are very common procedures that can be done in our office. All procedures are conducted with local anesthesia which numbs the area being worked to avoid pain.
